You Cannot Grow by Staying Stuck

Can you believe we are already halfway through the year? Time has a way of moving whether we are making progress or standing still. The calendar has turned, but have you?

Pause for a moment and ask yourself a few honest questions. Have you accomplished what you set out to complete? Did you begin a project that is still waiting for your attention? Have you followed your passions, or have you allowed fear, comfort, or uncertainty to keep them on hold? Have you tried something new and different? Have you intentionally blessed someone beyond your immediate circle?

Now sit with this thought for a minute: You cannot grow by staying stuck.

Staying where you are may feel safe, but growth rarely happens in comfort. Every meaningful accomplishment requires stretching beyond what is familiar. The dreams in your heart deserve more than good intentions—they deserve courageous action.

As Martin Luther King Jr. wisely said, “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” Often, the greatest obstacle isn’t the mountain before us; it’s our unwillingness to take that first step.

Scripture reminds us in Isaiah 43:19, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”God is always creating opportunities for new beginnings, but we must be willing to move forward to experience them.

Likewise, Maya Angelou encouraged us with these powerful words: “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”Growth is not about perfection; it is about progress. It is choosing to become better than yesterday.

The Apostle Paul reminds us in Philippians 3:13–14, “Forgetting those things which are behind… I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” We cannot move forward while clinging to yesterday’s fears, failures, or excuses.

As you begin the second half of this year, make a decision. Will you remain where you are because it feels comfortable, or will you embrace the discomfort that produces growth? Reflect. Discern. Pray. Then move.

The year is not over. Your purpose is still calling. Your next chapter is waiting.

Don’t stay stuck. The world needs your brilliance and time waits on no one! 

Grow. Learn. Do.
